Dear Student,

Welcome to my latest course on electrical design – a deep dive into the creation of an industrial packaging machine. This is the first in a series of courses designed to enhance your skills and knowledge in the field of electrical engineering and design.

What You've Learned So Far:

  • Utilizing EPLAN Electric P8 for creating circuit diagrams
  • Sizing cables and protection devices using SIMARIS DESIGN for power distribution systems
  • Calculating heat dissipation and dimensioning fans and air conditioning in RITTAL THERM for electrical enclosures

Now, let's dive into mastering electrical design: This course is based on a project I designed for a client approximately two years ago. Throughout this series of lessons, we will explore different aspects of this project, starting with the basics and progressively delving deeper.

In this course, you will gain insights into the following key components:

  • Power System: Understanding the backbone of electrical energy distribution within the machine.
  • Control System (PLC - Siemens S7-1200): Learning how programmable logic controllers operate and control the machine's functions.
  • Safety System (Safe EFI-pro System by SICK): Ensuring the safety and reliability of the packaging machine through robust safety mechanisms.

I will guide you through the process of controlling this machine, explaining the importance of input and output signals in the project. By completing this course, you will be well-equipped to understand and design an electrical system for similar machinery.

To complement your learning experience, I highly recommend downloading the circuit diagrams in PDF format provided in lecture 3. These resources, along with the videos I've created, will help you create your own EPLAN project for a hands-on approach to learning. For those who are interested, you can also work on the project in two languages!

If you are new to EPLAN, I encourage you to take my EPLAN courses where I will provide detailed examples and guidance to help you master the software.

I am confident that you will find this course enriching and enjoyable, and it will be a significant step towards mastering electrical design. I wish you great success in your learning journey!

Your Instructor for Electrical Design,

Ivan Vidovic 🎓💡
