Overview:
The International Bareboat Skipper (BBS) course is an advanced training program designed for experienced mariners who wish to command a vessel up to 24 metres in length, within sight of land and fair weather conditions. This course is NOT a starting point for beginners; it's a step towards obtaining a certificate that demonstrates your competency at sea.
Who is this for?
- Candidates should be 16 years of age or over.
- Must have logged a minimum of 200 nautical miles and 10 days at sea by the end of the course.
- Have completed IYTโs International Crew physical course, with proof (IYT International Crew Certificate or a gold seal on the IYT Boating & Sailing Passport).
- Hold an IYT VHF Radio Operators Certificate or an equivalent from another training organization.
Certificate Limitations:
- Command of vessels up to 78 ft / 24 meters in length.
- Within coastal waters up to 20 miles offshore.
- In fair conditions with moderate wind and sea states.
- Charters typically require operations within daylight hours.
