Comidoc FAQ answers

What is this website?

We list online courses, mostly for free, here.

We do not host or sell courses; Udemy, Skillshare, Coursera, and other websites do.

We add value to your learning experience by tracking discount and free coupons, free courses, and similar offers from those platforms.

Who is behind Comidoc?

I am a solo French developer based in Paris.

I develop websites for clients, mainly corporate, SaaS, and affiliate websites. I focus on the Next.js, shadcn/ui, and Postgres stack.

I started developing the Comidoc website in May 2018 as an internal project, because I wanted to find a way to automate and share my discoveries of Udemy coupons with people eager to learn. I believe in making useful information and education accessible to everyone.

Do you work for profit?

Since the beginning, I have actually been losing money each month; I made a profit only once, in April 2020, during the worldwide COVID-19 lockdown. I mostly do this because I believe in the project.

Why is this so? Because Comidoc is not a WordPress website with a $10-per-month hosting bill. I have several dedicated servers, large-bandwidth services, CDNs, bots, and scrapers.

All of this technical infrastructure costs money. My development time is not billed; I run Comidoc as a side project.

Comidoc relies mainly on Premium subscriptions, with ads also helping to cover operational costs.

What is your relationship with Udemy?

In the past, I had an affiliate contract with Udemy. Udemy revoked it in November 2020, at the beginning of Black Friday.

I have no affiliate relationship with Udemy now.

Do you gain any money whenever I buy a course via one of your links?

No. Since November 2020, I have no Udemy affiliate links. All the money goes to the instructor and Udemy.

My sole job is to connect you with them. Comidoc relies mainly on Premium subscriptions, with ads also helping to cover operational costs.

Once a coupon appears on your website, for how long is it valid?

Coupons are issued by instructors to promote their courses, gain traction, and build momentum.

An instructor can choose to issue a discounted coupon, such as an $11.99 coupon, or a 100% off coupon where you pay nothing.

For free coupons, the current limits are up to 10 redemptions with a 5-day window or up to 100 redemptions with a 31-day window, depending on the coupon type. A coupon expires when its redemption limit or expiration date is reached, whichever comes first.

What happened to Udemy's 1,000-redemption rule? Why are coupons limited to 10 or 100 now?

The old 1,000-redemption rule is no longer the current rule for free coupons. Udemy now has two free-coupon formats: open coupons allow up to 10 redemptions, while targeted coupons allow up to 100.

In its February 2026 update Udemy said the change was intended to improve targeting and learning quality. It explained that open free coupons were not reaching the learners they were meant to help, while unlimited lifetime access encouraged people to collect courses without meaningful engagement.

Udemy's current coupon documentation describes the 10- and 100-redemption formats. I also document how the change appears in Comidoc's tracking data in the 100-seat rule article.

How does your browser extension work?

The technology is quite simple: when a user of the extension browses on udemy.com, we look in our database and provide a coupon in a popup if we have one.

Conversely, if a user applies a coupon on the Udemy site that we do not have, we add it to the database and share it with the community.

The extension also allows us to automatically deactivate expired coupons, so we can keep a list that is valid and up to date in real time.

This is a community model: the more users we have of the extension, the more coupons we have to offer.

What information is transmitted when using the browser extension?

When you browse Udemy course pages, we only send the visited URL to Comidoc servers.

Personal data such as your Udemy account, enrolled courses, and wishlist is never accessed.

You can choose whether you want added coupons to be credited to your name or remain anonymous.

What courses are posted on your Telegram?

Only free courses or courses where you pay nothing because of a valid 100% discount coupon. Quiz-only courses are excluded from Telegram posts.

How can I know if my contribution worked, and how can I see my name on it?

If you use the browser extension and are a registered user, an email is sent to you when you discover a course or a coupon.

If you use the submit form, you have a summary at the end of the process. You can also see confirmed contributions and your name on the Top Contributors leaderboard.

Could you please help me find a coupon for this course?

Comidoc has no contact with instructors, and only instructors can issue coupons.

You can try to contact the instructor directly through Twitter or Facebook and ask for a coupon, but Comidoc cannot help with that.

What do I gain from helping to post coupons?

You help people who do not have the money to study a topic.

In other words, you participate in spreading knowledge to the whole world, and that is a good thing. You are helping to build a fairer and better society.

Do you have an API or an MCP server?

Yes. The Comidoc Developer API exposes the verified course catalog, coupon offers with their remaining redemptions, topics, and trends through a REST API. The same data is available to AI agents through an MCP server.

The Free plan is enough for a personal bot or an agent, and the MCP server even works without a key at a limited quota. Start from the developer portal or read the API documentation.
