Our Verdict
Despite its age, Hello React remains a solid introductory course for absolute beginners in React. You'll get a strong grasp of the basics and learn how to build basic applications using React. However, expect some outdated content and a slightly tedious audio quality. Make sure to allocate additional time to learn the up-to-date React concepts elsewhere. Not recommended for students with an intermediate or advanced skill level in React.
What We Liked
- Comprehensive coverage of React fundamentals, including unidirectional data flow, JSX, ES6 classes, functional components, state, props, map, filter, and Ajax requests.
- Instructor explains the basics in an easy-to-understand manner, allowing students to grasp how React works without feeling overwhelmed.
- Encourages repetition of knowledge, reinforcing important concepts throughout the course.
- Projects serve as milestones for applying learned knowledge and provide real-world applicability.
Potential Drawbacks
- Outdated curriculum: uses React 15 instead of the current version (18), does not cover hooks, and still supports ReactDOM.render method.
- Some repetition of simple concepts might be unnecessary for some students.
- Audio quality can be distracting with an overemphasis on mouth sounds.
- Source files may be difficult to navigate due to organizational issues.
